Community Outreach Policing responds to the reality that police are often the first point of contact for people experiencing mental health and addiction crises. Enforcement-based responses alone cannot resolve the underlying needs and frequently lead to repeated police contact and escalation.
Delivered in partnership with the Brockville Police Service and the Gananoque Police Service, COP pairs officers with LLGAMH mental health outreach and intensive case management. Through voluntary outreach, participants are supported to access community-based mental health and addictions programming—helping reduce repeat police contact, address underlying needs, and improve safety for individuals and the community.
